The Reverend Donald Frye has served at Saint James since July 2008 and loves serving the people of Saint James parish.

A native of Akron, Ohio, Fr. Don moved to Chicago in 1990 for a six month job assignment having moved from New York City where he served two years as an urban missionary.  Fr. Don served homeless single men and women, and welfare moms and their children.  He worked 20 years in book publishing and marketing for InterVarsity Press and the American Medical Association before being ordained to the priesthood in 2005.

Fr. Don is actively involved in the community as a member of Dundee Twp. Lions Club and Board Member of the Elgin Community Crisis Center.  He has served on the Cathedral Chapter of Saint James Cathedral, the cathedral church for the Diocese of Chicago, as well as the Chaplain to the Dean's Search Committee.  Fr. Don was a member of the Diocesan Clergy Health Insurance committee and volunteer at Holy Family Ministry School in the North Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago.  Fr. Don is also a Registry Chaplain at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, IL..

Don and his husband, David Shallow, live in Naperville where they reside with their three Daschunds - Fritz, Owen, and Bob.
